Day 17. New York, Day 2

Those who go to bed late, get up late.

Our host Lisa, told us of an easier nicer way to go to into the city which allowed us to see the city skyline better.

After brunch, we headed to Manhattan and got our pre booked ferry round to The Statue Of Liberty & Ellis Island.

We used the audio tour.

We took another boat to Ellis Island.

It's where immigration took place.

Whilst we got back on the ferry, President Obama flew over us. He has been in NY for the past couple of days, his daughter is doing some work experience on a television show. His aircraft had many others following it for safety. He circled the island a couple of times. Shame he didn't land, but I'm sure we will catch up with him in Washington DC.

We the headed to the 9/11 memorial.

We went inside the memorial & museum.

It was very good! Very moving!

By the time we got out it was 9pm.

We got some dinner courtesy of Chipotle and went to find the Brooklyn Bridge.

The weather had cooled down lots by this point, but was still 27 degrees. We walked across the whole way.

At 11:15 we left Brooklyn and headed back across the water via subway.

We went to the Empire State Building.

But we didn't go up, $32 no thank you. Just walked around and then headed back to Times Square as we love it so much!

At 1am, Alex felt hungry so he got a massive Philly cheese steak sandwich. I just watched. The smell of so much food around was making me gag.

Got home at 3 x
